Picture Story – Rough Stock

During the summer of 1994, World Champion womens’ bull rider Tammy George of Brentwood, California, injured her knee during a rodeo.

Tammy wasn’t a stranger to injuries having almost died in 1990 after a bull stepped on her back and nearly killed her, so when I heard she chose to continue the season, I jumped at the chance to document this extraordinary athlete.
Unfortunately, after the finals were finished, the injury turned out to be worse than the doctors’ initial prognosis and Tammy hung up her hat and retired from competing in rodeos.
